Mr. Salahuddin Rifai | Chairman BoD-IESCO

Mr. Salahuddin Rifai has vast experience in the Pakistan energy sector, and Mid-East, in management of several initiatives related to critical energy sector projects’ development, Business Plans, Policy reforms and infrastructure improvements. These included huge improvement of Transmission, Distribution and generation projects, business Plans for restructuring of Public sector generation companies including rehabilitation of old generators, that resulted in addition of MW in 4 digits: planning and development of Transmission and Distribution infrastructure, and support to Ministry of Energy, Government of Pakistan (GoP) for development of National Power Policy, incentivizing private investment, support for development of power purchase agreements between the relevant stake holders like CPPA-G and National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC). Also worked in NEPRA on Licensing rules and development, on their modification to facilitate private investment, and on development of a competitive trading market. He has a proven track record of running whole Pakistan’s Power system most efficiently. He was extensively involved in designing, monitoring and implementing complex multi-million dollar programs besides deeper involvement in capacity building, specifically on-the-job technical training of dispatchers and Transmission staff, with appropriate Focus on environmental impact mitigation and gender integration. Mr. Rifai has got strong working relationships in GOP, IFI’S community, ADB, WB, GIZ, JICA, British Council, USAID, UN, and DOE in USA, as he has worked for USAID contractors, for over 8 years.

Engr. Dr. Muhammad Amjad Khan | Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Muhammad Amjad Khan has 39 years of experience in WAPDA/Electricy Utility Organizations, Project Management, Power System, Economics & Management, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, PhD Management and served as Chief Executive Officer, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO). He is qulified with PhD Management Sciences, MBA Human Resources, MS Electrical Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering and a Good Governance Course from IBA Karachi. He served in different Power Organizations i.e. PESCO from 2015-2017 as Chief Engineer (PMU), General Manager (Tech) from 2017-2018, in TESCO as Chief Executive Officer from Feb 2018 to May 2018 and in PESCO as Chief Executive Officer from 2018-2020.

Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad | Director BoD-IESCO

Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad is working as Economic Adviser (BS-21), Finance Division, Government of Pakistan.


Expertise :

Preparation and publication of Pakistan Economic Survey and the statistical supplement of the Economic Survey. Monitor the latest economic situation of the country and forecasting of key economic indicators. Prepare brief and research reports on current economic situation for Cabinet, ECC, Prime Minister’s Economic team and monetary fiscal policies coordination board. Participate in negotiations / talks with IMF, World Bank, ADB, ILO, UNDP and other Multilateral & Bilateral development partners. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on economic situation and analyze the progress on Real, inflation, Fiscal, External and social sector of the economy. Represent Finance Division in economic ministries e.g. planning commission, commerce, Economic Affair Division, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Food Security & Research, industries & production etc. conduct National price Monitoring committee meeting on monthly and Monetary Fiscal Policies Co-ordination Board meeting on quarterly basis. Provide Technical & economic viewpoints on various matters to all wings of the Finance Division.

Mr. Amir Zafar | Director BoD-IESCO

Expertise :

Mr. Amir Zafar has more than 32-years experience in diverse fields ranging from aviation, large scale manufacturing to power utility. He has been associated with the energy sector for the past 11 years, and was part of the leadership team that successfully led the turnaround of an ailing utility company. Led business critical projects worth USS 71 million annually meant to create long-term value for the organization. Carried out due diligence of an ailing Nigerian utility company, and suggested ways to turnaround.
Led multi-disciplinary functions in the Distribution Business at K-electric including New Connections, Project Planning and Implementation, Research & Development, Material & Contract management, Quality Assurance and HSE. As Project Director Distribution, initiated flagship projects meant to reduce technical and commercial losses. He was responsible for an annual material budget of USS 114 million and was instrumental in initiating localization process meant to ensure self-reliance.
As Chief HSEQ, established Corporate HSEQ within an organization of over 10,500 employees. Reduced employee accidents by 86% asset damage by 92 % and public accidents by 83% in short span of 6 years. Led the ISO-9001 & ISO-14001 company certification program. He has won many National and International awards in the field of HSE. Mr Amir Zafar is also Chairman Board of Directors PESCO.


Qualification :

Amir holds an Engineering degree with a Masters in Engineering Management. He is also a qualified lead auditor in ISO-9001, ISO-14001 and OHSAS-18001.

Expertise :

Syed Hasnain Haider has more than thirty three years of rich experience in the power sector as well as banking and finance. He is Chairman of the Board of FESCO. He was earlier the CEO of Mahl Hydro Power Company Limited and Senior Deputy CEO/Advisor of Kohala Hydro Power Company Limited. He has also been the CEO of Laraib Energy Limited and Treasurer of the Hub Power Company Limited. He has also worked with both international and domestic banks. He is an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.
